I was born Susanne Mariko Sakura Dalnäs to a Japanese mother and a Swedish father, but most people just call me Marisa. I spent my first 19 years in Stockholm (Sweden), then 10 years in Dominican Republic and currently I live in Mallorca (Spain). I speak Swedish, Spanish, English and Japanese.
I LOVE photography. I always have. My dad is a journalist and a writer and on my mother’s side we have the artist. In our house growing up, you’d find oils and canvases all around the place. And our bathroom was a darkroom that my mother used to develop her black and white photographies.
Photographing people is really something. I know the story is there, all the beauty and drama, all the characters and the details. I just need to find a way to capture it. To capture life.
My portrait sessions are all about photographing you in your natural environment, a place where you feel comfortable and relaxed. I don't like to stress, so when it comes to doing a photo session it's all about having a good time and trying to capture that moment. I don't want fake smiles and awkward posing, I just want you to be you.
“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught in a photograph is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
